Former world heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali, whose record-setting boxing career, unprecedented flair for showmanship, and controversial stands, has died aged 74.

In addition to his numerous achievements in sports, Ali was an anti-war activist in the 1960's, refusing to be drafted into the US Army in 1967 to fight in the War in Vietnam.

In 1964, the Olympic boxing legend stunned the world by defeating Sonny Liston for the title of Heavyweight Champion of the World, at the age of 22. Three years later, in 1967, Muhammad Ali once again emerged as a champion, when he risked it all and refused to be conscripted into the U.S. military, citing his religious beliefs and opposition to American involvement in the Vietnam War.

Ali was arrested and found guilty on draft evasion charges. In 1971, the United States Supreme Court unanimously overturned his 1967 conviction and he resumed his boxing career and spent the years that followed as a ‪#‎TrueChampion‬ in and out of the ring. 

His words about America's endless wars ring true today. 

"My conscience won't let me go shoot my brother or some darker people or some poor, hungry people in the mud for big, powerful America. And shoot them for what? They never called me nigger, they never lynched me, they didn't put no dogs on me, they didn't rob me of my nationality, rape and kill my mother and father. Shoot them for what? The makeover of the US government -- from protecting the people to representing the wealthiest people in the USA and the world was a bipartisan effort that involved Republicans and the "New Democrats."

Republican President Ronald Reagan introduced the idea of a "trickle-down" economy that would somehow benefit all Americans by favoring those at the top with massive tax cuts -- But the destruction of the free-press, many social programs and an open-door for massive shifts of wealth to the top 1% via Wall Street investment in foreign labor is equally linked to the Clinton's New Democratic movement that put Corporate Democrats, many of them former Republicans in control of the Democratic Party.

Clinton New Democrats were major players! They deregulated the banks and further eliminated media protection -- and diverted $55 billion in six years from child-welfare and housing programs to build prisons, creating the school-to-prison pipeline, alongside their Republican allies. They lied to the American people about NAFTA and other free-trade agreements that only drove down wages. 

Flash-forward: A New Progressive movement, led by Senators Bernie Sanders and the Congressional Progressive Caucus is rallying the people to fight back against harmful environmental Fracking, KeystoneXL pipeline and more disastrous free-trade agreements.

It's time to understand how the United States of America, in only 30 plus years became the nation with the biggest income gap in the world -- greater than India, China, the UK, the income gap that reflects a system that has allowed the CEO's of multinational corporations based in the United States to "earn" 475 times more than the medium wages of the people working for their companies! ... and pay for just 10% of the US Government.

This was not a mistake on the part of the Republicans, who introduced "Reaganomics." The "Trickle-down theory" that has never been substantiated by facts was used as an excuse to give huge tax breaks to millionaires without raising any revenue to offset the tax cuts by the (R) Bush-Cheney presidency -- vaguely calling the rich "job creators" and claiming that the tax cuts would be offset by jobs/revenue growth.... which did not happen. Then they gave the rich a second tax cut during a time of war -- the first time ever in history -- and that also did not produce any offset jobs/revenue growth. But we were never again talking about the "surplus" created during the (D) Clinton presidency. That was gone.

And then there was the 2008 global financial crisis, caused by bankers playing with high-risk derivatives aiming to make phenomenal profits for the rich... Main Street American lost millions of jobs and a huge chunk of their life-savings for retirement and college for their kids that was invested in their home equity... and many Americans became homeless for the first time.

Make no mistake. It was the #GOP that pushed the Supreme Court to allow unlimited, undisclosed amounts of cash to flow into election campaigns. And the Republican Party is a puppet for the ALEC -- Corporate-American lobby group that peddles anti-worker, anti-union, anti-voter and pro-corporate "model legislation." While the Republican-dominated US House managed to gridlock the US Congress -- which passed only 83 pieces of legislature -- the ALEC lobby group managed to push through 40,000 pieces of "model legislation" in Republican-dominated state senates with Republican governors!

These "American" corporations are multinational global players, headquartered in the USA because they have the most power and pay the least amount of taxes here. What's on their agenda in 2014? For openers, an attempt to abandon laws that require companies to pay overtime to employees. 

Getting Republicans out of office in 2014 is important. 

Eric Cantor, the Republican majority leader in the US House of Representatives, explains the GOP's aversion to extending unemployment benefits this way: “We have been trying to focus this Congress on getting back to a more optimistic view of what the economy can do. It is about jobs. It is about growth. Our focus is about wanting people to get a job. It’s on employment, not unemployment.”

Baloney. With 3 (counted) unemployed people for every existing job, Cantor and his colleagues would be more convincing if they'd vote for job-creating measures like rebuilding the nation's crumbling infrastructure, financing a new WPA similar to the national work program of the great depression of the 1930's -- helping the jobless get new skills, providing childcare when they're at work, giving tax credits to employers who add net jobs, and raising worker pay so they have the purchasing power to fuel private-sector job growth. 

But Republicans oppose all these, and continue to sell the supply-side trickle-down snake oil that tax cuts for businesses and the wealthy create jobs. We've had 33 years of trickle down economics and nothing has trickled down. Besides, the best way to keep the long-term unemployed looking for jobs is to provide them extended unemployment benefits, which requires they keep searching. Otherwise they join the now record number of Americans too discouraged even to look.

Test-Rocket Launch at Spaceport America in Mojave Desert

Congratulations to Elon Musk and the Space X team. On August 13, 2013, the Falcon 9 test rig, aka "Grasshopper" flew to an altitude of 250m completed a 100m lateral maeuver and returned to the center of the launch pad. The divert test demonstrated the space vehicle's ability to perform new, more aggressive steering maneuvers.


Controlling the 10-story "Grasshopper" is a big challenge. "Diverts like this are an important part of the trajectory in order to land the rocket precisely back at the launch site after re-entering from space at hyper-sonic velocity," the team said in a statement attached to this raw footage of the Aug. 13th test.

I first met the Space X team at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, just after they won the X Prize in 2004 with SpaceShipOne. The team told an audience of young pilots at the country's top flight school that commercial space travel would become a reality within a few years at their facility in the Mojave desert.


That is when I first heard about Virgin Galactic, an extension of the UK's Virgin Group, owned by flight enthusiast Sir Richard Branson. Virgin unveiled the world's first commercial spaceway in 2010 -- A runway for space craft in the Mojave in New Mexico.

The nearly two-mile long runway at Spaceport America was dedicated to Bill Richardson, who was governor of New Mexico in 2010. 

The Mojave facility in Upham, NM is the historic site where Burt Rutan's White Knight and SpaceShipOne captured the $10 million Ansari X Prize by reaching outer space (100 kilometers) in a privately financed, reusable passenger space craft. The $25 million initial price tag was funded by Microsoft co-founder, Bill Allen.

Test pilot Mike Melvill is photographed atop SpaceShipOne after his Sept. 29, 2004 flight into space. 

Burt Rutan's company, Scaled Composite designed and developed the spacecraft, dubbed "White Knight" that carried SpaceShipOne into outer space. White Knight also carried SpaceShipOne to the Smithsonian Museum in Washington D.C. in 2005, where it is permanently on exhibit.

All of the historic flights were made at the Mojave Airport Civil Aviation Test Center, which reclassified itself as the part-time Mojave Spaceport.

On Oct. 22, 2010 Sir Richard Branson and about 30 of the 380 Virgin Galactic future astronauts were present for the Spaceport America Runway dedication. They watched a flyover and landing by Virgin Galactic's WhiteKnightTwo, along with guests from around the world, who hope to be on board future flights. The 42-inch thick spaceway is designed to support nearly every type of aircraft in the world today, and anticipated future space travel.

Maine Joins Grassroots Election Reform Movement

Maine has become the 13th state to go on record in favor of a constitutional amendment to reverse a U.S. Supreme Court ruling that allowed unrestricted campaign spending by corporations and wealthy individuals.

The resolution supports an amendment proposed in March by Sen. Bernie Sanders, according to the Bangor Daily News. The Maine Senate voted 25 to 9 in favor of the resolution, on Tuesday, April 30, 2013. It passed the state House by a vote of 111 to 31. State Sen. Richard Woodbury, an independent from Yarmouth who introduced the resolution, said the Supreme Court ruling opened the door to unprecedented spending in both federal and state elections.

No One In The USA Should Be OK With This

Most workers have not gotten a raise in at least three years, and have been asked to pay more of their own health care costs, give up pension plans and even take pay cuts just to keep their jobs... but the "too big to fail" corporate investment banks are only BIGGER now, and profits have DOUBLED for Wall Street investors, and the ALEC Corporate Lobby (via Republicans) is putting anti-worker legislation in place in more states -- The so called "right to work" laws that take away the worker's right to even discuss pay and benefit inadequacies!!!

The ratio of CEO pay in the United States has ballooned!! Pass legislation to limit the salary of CEOs to 50 times as much as the average employee at their companies.

Why is this important?

Watch this video to see just how massive wealth inequality in the U.S. has become in recent years, with the richest 1% of the country possessing more money than the poorest 80% combined. A major driver of this inequality is pay disparity, with CEOs in Fortune 500 companies now making 380 times as much money as the average worker. This is a massive increase from 1980, when CEOs were making 42 times as much as the average worker.

To help rectify this problem, Congress needs to pass legislation that caps the ratio of CEO pay to average worker pay at 50 times. CEOs can still be very well compensated, but this will help to drive down the massive disparity we're facing right now. Walmart Black Friday Strike Over Welfare Wages

Walmart Workers Black Friday Strike in 12 States! Workers want "full time" employment instead of "part-time less than 35 hours - low wages and no benefits!" MakingChangeAtWalmart.org

David Garcia is among those protesting. He says that he worked at the NFI facility (national distribution warehouse for Walmart) for a year as a temp earning $8 an hour without benefits. Before being let go last month, Garcia was employed as a "lumper" -- someone who loads and unloads containers on the warehouse docks. He typically got around 30 hours per week, he said.

"I was promised a 90-day probation period when I started," Garcia told HuffPost. "It's been a year and they're not talking about me being hired [full-time], or getting any benefits, no raises, not even a promotion for me to start driving a forklift. I've got five kids and a wife to support and that’s really impossible with $8 dollars an hour."

The six Walmart heirs have an income that is equal to the total income of the bottom 30% of the American people, yet they pay $7 and $8 per hour wages and hold people to "part-time less than 35 hours with no beneifts"... How can that be right? In the meanwhile, the American TAXPAYER is picking up the bill for these under-paid workers who rely on Medicaid and Food Stamps in order to live!

What Kind Of Government Do We Want?

It’s Not a CLIFF – it’s a SHOWDOWN between two ideas for America’s future.

FINALLY - Let's work together to fix this country! Not throw mud at the black guy who is president or kiss the feet of some Tea Party fanatic like Grover Norquist! 

We The People get the government we deserve only when we engage in the discussion of ideas presented by liberals, moderates and conservatives and agree on "American solutions to American issues" to quote a Republican senator (in South Carolina) who hopes to re-introduce a bipartisan Immigration Reform bill that he has worked on with a Democratic senator (from New York). The bill was flatly rejected by Tea Party Republicans but now, just maybe there will be interest among Republicans to engage in bipartisan discussions.

And hopefully bipartisan effort to work together to solve the huge national debt mostly created by 2 unpaid for wars + a global economic crash caused by big “BANKSTERS" messing with mortgage investment bundles that has cost almost all homeowners a loss of more than 50% of their home equity! AKA college and retirement savings!

We have just come through a time when 700,000 people PER MONTH lost their jobs, and then many lost their homes... There was no help for the people, after the “too big to fail banks” were bailed out by Republican President George W. Bush, who should NEVER BE FORGOTTEN as the worst president in history -- along with VP Chaney they should both be on trial for war crimes after IRAQ invasion on trumped up "weapons of mass destruction" claims that even former secretary of state (general) Colin Powell speaks against. 

Do we want a big military - protecting our oil interests and telling people what to do all over the world? The Bush-era wars cost this country $4 Billion per month (not part of the bloated $660 Billion annual “Defense” budget.) Romney wanted to add $2 Trillion to “beef up defense” to protect a US Corporation cheap labor expansion into South America. Is that what we want? Who's going to pay for that? The richest Americans and their corporations are holding tight to prevent the reversal of a 4% tax cut given to them by Bush-era Republicans. 

Do we want everyone in this country to have affordable health care? Do we want our parents to feel secure in their retirement, knowing that they will always have a place to live, food and medicine? Is that the kind of nation that we want? 

We have to decide where our tax money should be spent -- and I for one do not want some $Billionaire or Chevron paying $2.5 million to some super-pac to get his message out to the nation! So I am immediately getting involved to reverse "Corporate Personhood"!! I have already become a citizen co-sponsor of  the "Saving American Democracy" US Constitutional Amendment introduced by Independent Senator Bernie Sanders from Vermont --> watch the video and add your support here. 

We have the opportunity to “do some nation building here at home” as newly re-elected President Barack Obama said -- to rebuild the northeast hit by Sandy, to put Americans to work rebuilding some of our crumbling major bridges and move forward with high speed rails and other mass transportation that will help people get to jobs in big cities etc. 

The Bush-era tax cuts for the rich were not in the budget -- they were simply a campaign giveaway that has cost the USA $1.2 Trillion in revenue. The Republican-controlled US House has been holding up the nation and it's people over 4 percentage points! It's time to take action TOGETHER to FIX THE NATION!

Congressman Alan Grayson from Florida, who was not in-office at the time, explained and defended the Occupy Wall Street Movement on national TV and the studio audience gave him a standing ovation!

Occupy Wall Street Protests Money-Driven Democracy

Across the world, and most recently in the United States, a whole new generation of young people are expressing their anger and lack of faith in political and economic systems that produce and sustain an elite class of people at the top, who claim ownership of 99% of the world's monetary assets, while abusing and misusing the world's physical resources and human labor resources.

To The People of The World:
We, the New York City General Assembly Occupying Wall Street in Liberty Square, urge you to assert your power, the group said in an "official declaration" Sept. 30th 2011.

"Exercise your right to peaceably assemble; occupy public space; create a process to address the problems we face, and generate solutions accessible to everyone....


"As one people, united, we acknowledge the reality: that the future of the human race requires the cooperation of its members; that our system must protect our rights, and upon corruption of that system, it is up to the individuals to protect their own rights, and those of their neighbors; that a democratic government derives its just power from the people, but corporations do not seek consent to extract wealth from the people and the Earth; and that no true democracy is attainable when the process is determined by economic power. We come to you at a time when corporations, which place profit over people, self-interest over justice, and oppression over equality, run our governments. We have peaceably assembled here, as is our right, to let these facts be known."

Oct. 1st 2011 - The NYPD arrests 700 #OccupyWallStreet demonstrators, snatching video equipment and cameras and later releasing most of the protesters in what many are calling a case of police entrapment. Here is a "Step-By-Step Brooklyn Bridge" video that shows NYPD leading the demonstrators across the bridge, onto the car lanes, like a Pied Piper, into their orange, plastic nets. Police were also in full force behind the protesters, where they formed a rear brigade across the traffic lane, cutting off any exit route.

Members of labor union communities and MoveOn.org have now pledged their support and participation in the Occupy WallStreet & Occupy Everywhere movement.




What has happened since the violent air attacks on Wall Street in 2001?

• Vast amounts of (taxpayer) money spent to wage war for 10 years.
• Vast amounts of (taxpayer) money used to "bail out" big banks.
• Fewer restrictions placed on private influence money that is poured into political campaigns.
• Unemployment tops historic records, while social safety nets are being cut.
• A record-breaking 50 million Americans have no health insurance and 45,000 die every year because they don't have access to health care.
• The United States now has the largest prison population in the world.
• The people of the world are finding ways to unite for social change.
• The "Arab Spring" and more recently "Occupy Wallstreet" movements are toppling strong-man dictatorships and calling for serious reform within democratic societies to eliminate the unacceptable economic conditions that have steadily eroded the quality of life for the bottom 99% of people in the world -- the unemployed, working poor and working middle class.

Five years ago in Venus, Florida a group of peace-loving humanitarians came together with designer-philosopher Jacque Fresco to design a better world "Beyond Politics, Poverty and War" -- a resource-based economic system instead of a money-based system.

The Venus Project advocates an alternative vision for a sustainable new world civilization unlike any socio-economic system that has gone before. It calls for a straightforward redesign of a culture, in which the age-old inadequacies of war, poverty, hunger, debt, and unnecessary human suffering are viewed not only as avoidable, but totally unacceptable.
